Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Blooming Prairie on Monday, June 22. Besides streets and fields, much of Central Park was covered with water.
Monday morning brought rain and thunderstorms into Steele County and the surrounding counties. Although the majority of Steele County did not see any flooding the southern portion of the county had some problem areas arise. 
Ellingson Companies of West Concord last week started some directional drilling on the Main Street reconstruction project in Blooming Prairie. The drilling was done to place utilities underground and to be able to keep Highway 218. Initial street construction across 218, east to 5th Ave. included removal of pavement and curbing.
For the most part, with the exception of some heavy showers at mid-week, the weather has cooperated with the beginning of work on the reconstruction of Main Street in Blooming Prairie.
Jon Wilcox, a dairy nutritionist from Faribault, gave a demonstration on what cows eat at Saturday’s on the farm event near Claremont.
Dairy cows eat about 102 pounds of wet feed every day.
