Life without the news

No doubt you noticed that the front page of this week’s DCI is ... blank!

Goes to show what you’d miss if every page of every newspaper was blank, if us journalists did not plug in the news, week after month after year, so help us God. You would not know:

-How much fun folks had during National Night Out in southeast Minnesota (sorry, the whole paper’s white as a blizzard, so no story, and no photos for the scrapbook; but trust us, it was fun).

-The annual Dodge County Relay for Life, and the Chamber Supper/Silent Auction in Claremont were also pretty great. Lots and lots of people out there. Results: unavailable.

-What’s up with the Dump Road work between Kasson and Mantorville? Almost done? Hmmm.

-The Hayfield School District got a big jump on ... something. A large amount of federal funding may have been involved ...

-A Sargeant woman (and Kasson-Mantorville High alumnus) delivered her baby in her car while she and her husband rushed toward a hospital. What’s her name? What else happened? Hard tellin’ ...

-Our DCI summer interns, Alex G. Nuehring and Magen Radke, write fantastic weekly columns. Fun reading. Would love to share it. Can’t. You know the drill.

-There are some fun stores in Mantorville. One just celebrated its 10th anniversary. Which one? Can’t really say...

-Area students are smart, and involved in their schools and communities (you knew that). But K-M students went to some sort of national conference, and Triton FFA members will be honored ... for something ... somewhere.

-You probably could have guessed that the Mayo Clinic would be ranked the nation’s top medical facility – again. But what makes it so great? Who are the other front-runners? Where’s the darn news? Elsewhere ...

-Where are the Twins in the American League standings? They’re pretty good this year. They’re in the pennant race. But suddenly they get no coverage? And there’s zero news from Vikings training camp. Has it even started?

-What the heck’s going on with North Korea? Are we gonna get nuked? Are we gonna nuke them back?

-And what’s the latest on the Russia-hacking-our-presidential election thing? And the big, expensive wall being planned on the Mexico border? That still gonna happen? Or what?

-Speaking of which, what’s our president up to? What kind of orders is he signing (or hopes to sign)? What will it mean to us? Who’s he talking to, and why? Is he hiding anything? Is he telling the truth? Is he leading us to nuclear war? Don’t we have a right to know?

-And where the heck is the AdVantage?

Excellent questions!

Doo-de-doo-dee-doo ...
